Miss Nevada USA Katie Rees kan de finale voor de verkiezing van Miss USA 2007 op haar gladde buik schrijven. Deze week doken op internet voor Amerikaanse begrippen schokkende foto's op, die haar haar kroontje kostten en dus ook de deelname voor de Miss USA-verkiezing.

Op de foto's is Rees onder meer te zien terwijl ze een meisje kust, haar borsten laat zien en haar broek laat zakken om haar string te tonen.

De 22-jarige Katie Rees liet via haar advocaat weten dat de foto's vijf jaar oud zijn. ''Ze was pas 17 en maakte toen een beoordelingsfout. Wat ze op die bewuste avond deed, is geen afspiegeling van de persoon die ze is geworden. Dit was een geïsoleerd incident.'' Dat de foto's al 5 jaar geleden genomen zijn, maakt voor de organisatie van de Miss-verkiezingen niet uit. Ze zijn een Miss onwaardig, zo oordeelt men daar.
